Actually that sort of supports the analogy (albeit a bad one) that OP tried to make. If Sandy Bridge is Couch and the offensive line is the chipset, it makes a little more sense, since it's not really a problem with the CPU but with the supporting hardware.

This is a serious problem, let people moan.

All of the Intel fanboys had a field day when AMD 'shaved' a bit of material off the PCI-E power housing on the AMD 68XX series cards.

People will act like idiots in all walks of life, just ignore them. Starting a thread like this will only increase the responses.

BTW love my 1090T.

Ok, let me put it this way. Show me a car that gets better mileage that can hold an entire family. Didn't think people would bash the Prius when this is a CPU THREAD. I was using it as an example.

I bet if I dared the forum to post polite, productive comments from this point out, the post below me would be bashing my idea. A FAIL would be if Intel was selling processors that could divide by zero.

In fairness to AMD those issues you guys are mentioning are not detrimental to the long term reliability. Specifically the TLB bug was patchable and did not require production of new silicon. That's nothing to say for AMDs reputation and bank account however.

Intel has had a lot of patchable problems over time, in fact, they have them all the time as does AMD. This is different as it is an actual engineering fault and one that cannot be corrected by a firmware/software patch of some sort. It's a bit bigger than their usual blunders
