This scenario is perfect for me. I suggest many of you consider something similar before you panic and jump off the Sandy bullet train!

I think what they're trying to do is get people to wait past the 30 day return/exchange period so that they are forced to deal with the manufacturers directly instead of the retailer (MC). Lame, but then again this is not MC's fault.

I have 2 hard drives on ports 0 and 1. I have my 2 DVD drives on 2 and 3 but was going to move them to the Marvell ports. I am wondering what is wrong with the Marvell ports. Are they slower or prone to problems? Why do they suck? Thanks.

They don't suck.

They do however, slow down start up times slightly while they initialize.

Isn't it perfectly fine to leave a DVD drive on the SATA 3Gbps ports? Sure, degradation on typical use over 3 years, but its not like I use it that much.

There REALLY IS a lot to be said in favor of waiting for a new technology to mature before jumping on the 'bandwagon'...

So is there going to be a new revision of the 2600K too?

... And the intel SATA performs better, especially with SSD's and the intel Rapid Storage driver installed.

If you HAVE to use it, go ahead. I didn't see the point in putting a DVD-RW drive on SATA6. It'll be fine on the SATA3 since it's non-critical.

Steam pretty much made my DVD-RW useless. Now I only use it to install/reinstall Win7.
