I brought a i7 2600k from microcenter just three days back, and did not unbox it... as i was waiting for the evga classified mobo.
Hence i called up Microcenter and they told me that intel has started the recall, and they asked me to bring back the processor and they would do the refund. Plus they also mentioned that the new batch will arrive by end of feb or possibly beginning of march.
This is so not good... i wish AMD's bulldozer good luck, and if they perform better.. i wud go for them if they release anytime sooner than intel's new batch.

There is nothing wrong with your processor. The problem is with the chipsets on the new motherboards. The recall is for the chipsets/motherboards.

So why would Microcenter rep mention that Intel has recalled all the processors, and hence they wanted me to return the unboxed processor and opt for a refund.

Sounds like they are confused. You don't have to return the CPU. It's up to you if you want to wait for the fixed motherboards to arrive or drop the whole thing for a different platform.

Yeah...that was a funny site to see @ MC when I had returned my Biostar P67 for a refund earlier today. Those SB cpu's will remain on the shelf for sale. I can patiently wait until April for the revised P67 mobos
