I SAID FINE. IT'S DONE.

Also, I opened the fill hole on my reservoir, and it was like opening a can of soda. I got sprayed in the face with nasty alien egg water.

That doesn't sound good.

Maybe you filled it with crappy liquid? Most liquids expand quite a bit after being heated, and it a closed system that can build up pressure. So as far as I understand it, higher quality liquids for PC cooling systems are designed to expand less while still transferring heat adequately.

So from my perspective, there are two options (but don't take me as an expert on liquid cooling)
1: Higher quality liquid in the line
2: Pressure valve at the top of the reservoir to release air pressure as the liquid expands, possibly another to also allow are back into the top of the reservoir once the liquid contracts too.

I use distilled water + silver kill coil. There's no logical explanation why the actual water level would go up that markedly, though the pressure from water vapor and air is understandable. As an example, if you were to fill up a balloon full of air in a 20C room and move it to a 50C room of the same pressure, there would be a noticeable change in the balloon's volume (albeit, somewhat smaller than expected from the pressure of the balloon's material). However, using a water balloon would not result in a change noticeable to the naked eye as water does not expand that much. Any expansion in the volume of the liquid would be counteracted by the added pressure from the gas trapped in the sealed reservoir. What was really interesting was that the water level dropped after I opened the top and the pressure was released. This tells me that the air in the reservoir was fully saturated with water molecules, but the residual heat in the reservoir made the water want to evaporate further. But this still doesn't explain the rise in water level, especially since water is condensing on the top of the reservoir in big drops. Overall, it is one confusing enigma that I will just ignore. And I'll probably just leave the cap off the reservoir.
