Stupid overheating mosfets. Time to get a Crosshair IV, methinks. The thing couldn't possibly overheat with that massive heatsink on it...
I had the Crosshair IV Formula, all I can say is, many of them come with a bad mount on the Northbridge and you'll need to re-seat it if you want to improve temps.

I didn't do it, and even so, temps were great @ +3.8Ghz with NB @ 2600-2800Mhz.

It's a great motherboard biggrin.gif But I think the one you have right now is also great in my opinion.

This mosfet heat issue's really holding back my clock. CPU isn't getting that hot at all, ~45C at 3.9GHz. I contacted EK to see if one of their mosfet blocks will fit on this board, and if it does, I may give that a try before going for a Crosshair. The thing is $300 after all... Or maybe just going water cooling on my CPU will free up enough air flow to cool the mosfets. I'll have to rethink my setup, though...

Keep in mind the X6's from AMD have an error margin on the temperature readings.

If you're reading 45ºC on programs like Core Temp, you should add another 10ºC, therefor, your CPU is at around 55ºC, which is almost on the limit for 24/7 Folding.

I would not go any further unless you lowered your temps, you're on the sweet spot right now, and 55ºC at load is perfect, anything higher will cause instability, and maybe degradation in long-terms.

HWMonitor's reading no higher than 36C atm. Core Temp reports exactly the same. I used a temp probe for a couple prime runs and it read no higher than 45C. This Mugen 2 is doing exceptionally well, it seems. Now that it's warmer outside (and in my room) temps obviously went up a slight amount, but barely anything noteworthy. I'm guessing it'll top out at ~40C via HWM (~50C actual) this summer, which means I definitely have room to get to 4.0, if I can cool down these mosfets.

Oh alright, my bad then! doh.gif

Those temps are pretty good for a Mugen 2, with an actual temp of 50ºC I could push it until you hit "real" temp of 55ºC smile.gif

So yeah, 4Ghz is definitely achievable on those temperatures you've got!

Now we need to find a way to cool down those mosfets teaching.gif

Mebbe I can figure out a way to weld heatpipes to the heatsink, and draw them outside the computer to yet another Mugen 2 sitting on my desk specifically to cool the mosfets. Would make it incredibly difficult to take my mobo out, though... hmmm...

Which mosfets do you have trouble cooling, the Northbridge?

Maybe you could just grab a 8CM fan from an old PC and with zip ties or something hold it pushing air right into the mosfets rolleyes.gif
