Just a few Q's:
1) How do these subteams work? Are my stats just added to the team total or do I need to change the team line on the folding program?
2) You mentioned "Fermi Position" so there's limits to the number of members and such? If my stuff starts messing up I don't want to be responsible for dragging a whole team down.

Sorry, perhaps I should explain the Team Competition (TC) more.

Essentially highly dedicated folders push the limits of their hardware in a friendly (well most of the time, ask donkey about friendly) competition. Everyone competes for the cause and tries to fold the most number of points in a given category within a month. The categories are:
  1. i7 huge adv
  2. i7-2 (SMP)
  3. X6/2500k
  4. Fermi GPU
  5. Cat2 (various cards/cpus...most commonly quad core intels or AMDs)
  6. AMD GPU (typically upper 5xxx or 6xxx series)

One person on each team will fill one of the above categories. You still fold for overclock.net (OCN) but you use a unique passkey that is tracked to our stats page here: http://sks72.dyndns.org/teamcomp/index.php?p=leaderboard

It's a lot of fun and highly addictive!!

I've been addicted and I haven't even been on a team for many months!

EDIT: This poor 1090T won't stay stable at 4.1 @ 1.5625v so I'm backing her down a bit.

Brighter side, the RAM is around 2035.. once the system is stable I can tighten up the timings thumb.gif

Trying to find another 1090T to see what I can squeeze out of it as mine is a bit of a pain!

OK so I"m going to try this client tonight. So far its made my entire computer lag up real good so I guess its really working hard.
this one

Am I allowed to fold on SMP as well as my GPU if I'm in the Fermi position?

So far everything appears stable and I'm rolling around the 20-25k ppd mark. thumb.gif

Going to leave overnight and see if its all good in the morning. Will let you all know how it goes then proceed from there.

you will have to get two different passkeys from Stanford, one for TC (gpu) and one for non-TC (cpu). However, folding on the cpu and gpu at the same time will lower your ppd on both.

Stupid question: Dual booting just as good as native?

Does file system matter in a dual boot?

I hear a lot about ext3, however if you use WUBI to install ubuntu I think you'll be forced to use NTFS.

not sure about using WUBI but I do know that to maximize PPD you want to use ext3... do you have a spare HD? if so, just unplug the windows drive and install on the spare HD. it'll be a hassle to switch between operating systems by plugging and unplugging drives but your rig is dedicated anyways <- it better be! wink.gif

EDIT:
in order to be competitive and place in the top 3 for i7-2 you'll need a tpf of 5:30-5:45 on 6097/98/99. I think that's what my tpf was around

it really depends on if he's folding on CPU, gpu, or both... Setting up the gpu client on Ubuntu is a hassle. if he plans on folding his Fermi for TC then he's better off just using the Win7 client. just my 2cents.gif

So gents my install failed horribly the other night. I am still down right now and am quite mad at the lack of installation hardware that came with my NB heatsink. Long story short I was supposed to use spring pins for this thing that aren't big enough to catch on the back of the motherboard. I have a solution and need to hit the hardware store today to buy a few parts and then I will be up an running, hopefully this evening. ARGH!!!! Why can't I just leave well enough alone????? mad.gif
