Okay as Zodac said in their email, there is some revisions being made for the TC.
Quote:

1. Allowing IB/SB-E CPUs into i7.
2. How the end of -hugeadv WUs affects the i7 positions.
3. Whether any limitations need to be made on Kepler GPUs or not.
4. Whether we can move i7 920s to the X6/2500k category.
5. Expanding the Cat2 PPD limit (currently stands at ~13k PPD).

I thought I'd help organize the discussion a bit.

1. IB is welcomed in any category an SB is in as it is just a die shrink. If you can cool a 3570k and 3770k enough that it competes on par, I welcome it. SB-E I'm not sure about?

2. With the end of hugeadv WU the two categories will nearly be merged. Not quite sure what else can be done about this category as SMP seems like the obvious choice for both categories. Restructuring both of these categories really doesn't need to happen. Every team will just have to have two SMP i7s.

3. It seems like the 680 doesn't produce as much PPD as the 580 (or so I've heard). What limitations that need to be made is completely up to the numbers during CC. I believe people in the current Fermi spot need to provide some numbers and model numbers so a comparison can be made.

4. I welcome the i7 920 into this category as long as the X6 isn't completely encroached upon. X6 can't fold hugeadv quick enough, and I doubt the 920 can complete a 6904. Once huge are no longer available, this category will become extremely competitive as the 2500k in SMP isn't as good as it is in hugeadv (in my opinion).

5. Seems like CAT2 is competitive in itself. Not sure if the PPD cap will make this category too broad in terms of hardware choices. I'm not an expert in CAT2 so I can't give a good suggestion tongue.gif

Bloomfield is not enough for 6904 (there was a big debate over that a few months back, before your time perhaps tongue.gif), unless you got a Platinum one (kinda like X6). Once the BA-8 and BA-12 are gone the X6, 2500K and Bloomfield will have a very tight fighting field.
Having own both a X6 and 2500K I'd say that the 2500K still has the edge (ever so slightly), and the numbers I've seen for Bloomfield is very close too, so it comes down to more of who's got the most stable system and/or best tweaking rather than luck with WUs.

More hardware options is a good way to go I think.

Yeah that's the problem with huge is just luck with WU. It's great for overall PPD but not in overall competition. With huge its all the luck of the draw and who can be the most dedicated. SMP would allow this category to really show brute overclocking power.

CAT2 is just a weird category in itself. I guess I don't fully understand it.

With the email in mind, I will het the 3770k. I will also provide as much info as I can on both 580 and 680 folding, just ask and you will receive. The 680 is still beta, so I think kys hard to assess what type of folding it will be capable of when and if a proper client is released.

Still out, but should be home in a few hours to answer any questions that come about.

Congrats DonkyP

BA-16, 22,607 total credit, deadline 2.4 days. Give crappy PPD for those who can do them in time, and even less if you can't (obviously), a SB is to slow afaik, SB-E should be fast enough.

You will never hear anyone around here promotig wu deletion. Its bad for the project in general. Best you can do is stop the client, change it to 12 threads and finish the one you got already. After the changes you should not get any of those again.

I thought missing a deadline was a bad thing? Thanks for the info on correcting it once complete
