The 990X does put out a fair bit of heat, so I can only assume that it draws a fair bit of power too:p When I replaced the 990X with the 3770k, my computer room got very chilly all of the sudden tongue.gif My wattage meter would display about 150 watts more when going from idle to folding.

I just ran linpack again, and my 940 @ 3.8GHz (1.365V) sits right at 80.125W while running that test. 990x is 32nm, so it's more power efficient, and it has 2 more cores, so it probably draws around the same power at the same speed (my highly edumacated guestimate).

I agree, an i7 SB-E hex category is long over due. I think we just need to get more teams interested in upgrading, or recruiting more hexcore SB-Es. If we can line up 20 of them, it should be no problem to get them allowed in, LOL.

There's already 9 hex's in TC including Div. 3. I think if SB-e's were allowed in Div.1 & 2 now that it would spur more interest. <- Just as a trial run for 1-2 months
