Dark Predators - Page 840

Not certain if this may, or may not help you 4thkor.

But those 76XX work units, generally run about 6 degrees hotter, than the 8019/20 units.

Not certain why, but they seems to get hotter, and be next to worthless when folding against the likes of Caleal. Chewdude and Mako also seem to give me a run for my money.

Oh, well of course not. Just trying to give advice that I can.

I had a 448 core from galaxy. It would not overclock, at all. Bios was locked. So I am just trying to give along the information that I do have.

Apparently we "cross posted". I appreciate your help. And what do these guys have under the hood? This is supposed to be the best 560 out there.
As far as temps, I should be OK. I'm running 78 right now, and I don't think the TIM is really burned in yet. Temps have been dropping all day.

On that CPU, the x23 multiplier is turbo mode, and will cause stability issues when overclocking.
Try the x21 multiplier, and a higher bclock speed, like 190.
Be sure you also disable the Turbo mode in the advanced CPU settings in your BIOS.
It may also be helpful to turn off SpeedStep tech, C States, and both spread spectrum options.
For voltages, I'd start off with 1.3v for the CPU Voltage, 1.25v for the QPI/DRAM Core Voltage, and 1.5v for the DRAM Bus Voltage(never more than 1.65v on the DRAM Bus), leave the rest on auto.
That should get to 4 GHz stable if there are no issues with your hardware. You could likely get away with slightly lower CPU and QPI/DRAM voltages, but I prefer hitting something stable, then working my way down, than trying to work my way up to stable voltage settings.
Once it is stable at 4 GHz, you can go for higher by raising the bclock, but you may have to lower the QPI and/or memory multipliers(displayed as their calculated speeds in your motherboards BIOS) to be stable.

I'll have to give that a try - I asked about it in the x58 OC thread, but apparently people don't like me (no response to my question).

I've come to the conclusion that they don't like those of us who have Folding Fanatic as our title and lots of Folding info in our sigs. Seems some are totally anti-Folding. Their loss.....

EDIT: I'm not in the nVidia Cat. I'm in Wildcard.

I have an MSI GTX 580 Lightning TwinFrozr III @ 850MHz. Stock cooler @ *60ish on the endless run of 8054s I am getting. 24k PPD on these little units. Temps go up a little on 8018/8020 and I get 30k. Wish i could get back on those soon. The 76xx like has been said by JB and Caleal....SUCK!!!!!!!!! Going to try a budget WC and see if I cant get 925 or so and keep the temps close to 60 and to get the heat out of the case before it gets to the cpu radiator.

Good luck in Cat3. The only other 560 belongs to the #1 overall in your cat so maybe you can give him some compitition. Lord knows i tried to give nVidia some. I might be out a team next month because I am letting Element take over my spot so he doesnt have to leave BBB.

There doesn't appear to be a Turbo setting in my bios, but if I don't set it on auto, speedstep seems to be limited to the max multiplier I put in the bios - I'm maxing out one thread now and it's not going over 3.990GHz... I'll let you know if it seems stable.

Oh, Which of those DRAM voltages is the voltage that actually hits the ram?
