Good luck in Cat3. The only other 560 belongs to the #1 overall in your cat so maybe you can give him some compitition. Lord knows i tried to give nVidia some. I might be out a team next month because I am letting Element take over my spot so he doesnt have to leave BBB.

That's why I bought my 560, hoping to be in the upper end of the Wildcard cat. My Q9550 is maxed and I'b be 5th or 6th in Div.I. 76xx is all I've done so far, course I've only done two! But I agree on the PPD's on these. They do suck! 10,500 is the best I can do, even clocked like I am.

Do it. My 580 max temps at 935 is 56-58c, but usually is running around 48-52. This is with a oc'd (barely utilized) 3930 in the loop before the 580. I used to run it at 970, but it seems voltage has gotten the best of her.

Before microcenter runs out of 580's I'll take it in for replacement, that is unless kepler improves sometime soon.

I'm just running a reference design EVGA GTX580SC, but it is water cooled, and has a modified bios flashed onto it so I can go over the stock voltage limit.

Been running at 975MHz @ 1.175v for a couple of months now.

The GPU hovers in the 40-45ºC range while folding.
It runs that cool because I'm using a GPU only water block on it, so the heat generated by the VRMs and memory is not put into the WC loop, and have a 240 and a 360 radiator.
The rest of the card has a Swiftech full cover heat sink on it, with some pretty hefty airflow over it.
The CPU in that system is also water cooled, but it is just a stock clocked Phenom 9650, so doesn't make much heat.

At that clock speed, it starts failing work units if the GPU gets up around 50ºC.

Next month I plan to delid the GPU and mount the water block directly against the GPU die.
The way Fermi cards are put together, the GPU die is not in direct contact with the heat spreader, there is a surprisingly thick layer of TIM in there.
Getting rid of the thick layer of TIM, and the rather thick heat spreader, to mount the water block directly to the GPU die, should net me at least 5ºC more headroom to push a little higher voltage so I can get to 1000 MHz. smile.gif

Oh, Which of those DRAM voltages is the voltage that actually hits the ram?

It is in the CPU configuration under the advanced tab, at the bottom if you scroll down.

The DRAM Bus Voltage is the one that actually hits the RAM, but the controller is on the CPU die, and Intel very assertively warns against higher than 1.65v. Many a CPU has been fried when that warning was ignored.

There is also the QPI/DRAM Core voltage setting, it should be within 0.5v of the DRAM Bus Voltage, so if you have the DRAM Bus at 1.65v, the lowest the QPI/DRAM Core voltage should be set for is 1.15v.
It isn't really an issue, because you will typically need the QPI/DRAM set up in the 1.25 to 1.3 range to help with qpi and memory link stability at higher bclock and RAM speed settings.
You don't want to go higher than needed with it though, because it has a similar affect on CPU die temperature as the CPU Core voltage setting does, though it doesn't do much to core temperatures like the CPU voltage setting.

You shouldn't need to tinker with the various PLL and IOH voltages, unless you want to shoot for 4.2+GHz.
Fair warning though, it took me a good 6-8 months of tinkering to get all of the settings for my 4.3GHz OC ironed out.
For a long time I was dealing with trying to cure a once or twice a week BSOD crash.
I got pretty good at interpreting the causes of BSOD codes last year.rolleyes.gif

4.0GHz is pretty easy though, and won't require much tinkering, unless you want to find the lowest voltage settings that will work for everything, or want to OC your RAM, which brings with it a whole host of other "fun" issues to deal with, for disgustingly little benefit.

You should be able to back up the BIOS with the windows version of nvflash, edit it with NiBiTor, and flash the modified BIOS onto the card with nvflash.
If you are not already, you may have to use Afterburner as your OC utility to get access to the higher voltage limit.
The Asus and EVGA OC utilitis didn't give access to the higher settings of the modified bios on the 3 Fermi cards I've done bios mods on, but Afterburner does.

Ahh, yeah, I forgot that it goes away if you manually select the modifier. I haven't actually messed with my BIOS for a while.
Start off with SpeedStep Tech disabled though. Once you have your OC stable, you can try turning it back on.. Having it on will save a little power when the CPU isn't under load. I just leave it off because I don't care if the CPU is running at 4.3GHz at idle, it is only very rarely idling anyway. wink.gif

HAHA!
I'm about to find out how bad IOS6 maps are. I didn't upgrade my iPhone 3Gs to it, but I'll be getting an iPhone 5 as soon as I can find one in stock at a local AT&T store.
I'm more or less permanently "stuck" with iPhones because I've got close to $1000 worth of professional apps and proprietary remote monitoring apps I use for work, and most of them are not, and likely never will be available for the Android OS due to comparability and security issues with Android.

Caleal - I just found this:

sounds like these boards like lots of QPI voltage - any opinion on that?
