In outward appearance, the new member of Fujitsu's Green IT range looks just like any other two-buttoned, scroll mouse. But instead of using plastic, the 1000 dpi resolution optical M440 ECO is made from Arboform – which is based on a by-product of the paper-making process called lignin – and Biograde – a compostable and biodegradable cellulose acetate. The material making up the outer shell is said to have more elasticity than other renewable materials, offering users a little more ergonomic comfort.
I'm all for the cause, but why did they have to make it as ugly as sin?

It looks like it was made by a group of Compaq and Mad Catz rejects.

Exactly what I was thinking. I wonder how it will hold up against heat, sweat, and pressure..

I think we all thought the same thing.

"So there i was, kicking Arse in BFBC2, then all of a suden, my mouse turns into a wet wad of toilet paper!"

"I was so angry, I threw it! Now the darn thing is stuck to my ceiling!"

Lol, this is the case with lots of "green" products though and I don't understand it either.

Smart car/Prius (no offense to anyone) are HIDEOUS cars. It's AWESOME that Totota/Mercedes were very successful with their fuel efficiency and the Smart car is all polypropylene body panels, but WHY must they make them so ugly? The CRZ is at least decent looking. I don't expect them to look like a BMW M6, but good lord, put some more thought into exterior design.

Back to the mouse topic: A mouse is ridiculously simple to design, this one is a fail!

Corporates will love this, especially if they skip, the buttons fly off, and it has terrible tactile feel - just like the trash mouse they stiffed me at work with.

I am not sure if there is a big problem with disposal of mice. If it was a good mouse, then I wouldn't want it to biodegrade because I'd want it for the long haul - and if it was a bad mouse, I woulnd't want it in the first place.

It's quite clean looking actually; a very simple design. Anything but "ugly".

If you want "ugly" or "tacky", this is one that no doubt many people unfortunately use.

Yeah, I would assume that enviromental conditions would be have to be a little on the extreme side in order for it to decompose.

As far as appearance goes, this looks like the standard mouse. Not ugly, just plain and bland. Something you would see in most offices. If you want a 733T G@M!NG M0U53 then look else where.
