Overclocking E3300 - Page 2

post #11 of 35
You should be ok on stock cooling for minor overclocking, although as said above, your memory is probably going to be a limiting factor here.

Yep, you've got DDR2 667. That means you'll probably be very limited in your overclocks since lower end mobos tend to have limited memory multipliers. If you had DDR2 800, you could have gotten at least 3 GHz (240 FSB @ 3:5). Try to check if you can lower your memory ratio to DDR2 533 (3:4).

If that doesn't work and you still want to try for a higher overclock, your best bet is to do a BSEL mod or upgrade your memory (at least DDR2 800, preferably DDR2 1066).

Yes. See if you can lower it a bit more or set a fixed frequency. If you can't, you're kinda screwed...

Not sure what you're referring to. You pretty much only have two choices when it comes to BSEL mod:
800 (200) FSB -> 1066 (266) FSB = 2.50 GHz -> 3.33 GHz
800 (200) FSB -> 1333 (333) FSB = 2.50 GHz -> 4.16 GHz

Aiming for 1333 is a shot in the dark. It might work but it more than likely won't, not without a VoltMod (and even then, it still might not be completely stable). I suggest you just go for the tamer 3.33 GHz overclock. You'll have better chances of reaching that and it's still a 33% overclock which is nothing to sneeze at.

After you've confirmed the BSEL mod to be stable via stress testing, perhaps you can even do some additional BIOS overclocking.
