Overclocking E3300 - Page 3

Yes, that helps a little..

If i remember correctly these boards don't allow for Voltage to be changed for the processor, so looks like it could be limited, but we'll still try to get you a decent overclock on stock voltage smile.gif

1: In the BIOS for overclocking change "AI Overclocking" to manual
It then should come up with a second box for changing the FSB, it should be default at 200MHz.

2: Change the DRAM frequency to the lowest it shows, either 533MHz or 667MHz.

3: Now change the "1.8 Dual Overvoltage control" from AUTO to 1.8v

4: Keep the rest of the voltages at normal, for now.

Right, now start increasing the FSB speed (from 200MHz default) by 10 - 15MHz at a time, so from 200MHz to 215MHz should give you a jump from 2.5GHz to 2.68Ghz. Everytime you increase the FSB, boot into windows and run a stability program, i highly recommend using Intel Burn Test, found here:, i would also suggest keeping an eye on your temperatures, use This: to do that. (hardware monitor)

When testing your overclock with Intel burn test, change the stress level to 'Maximum' and times to run to 10, this should be enough for this overclock. see screenshot below to see what i mean. (the highlighted parts)

1.png

Also while stress testing have hardware monitor running, see the screenshot below where i have highlighted to see what you need to watch, if the first highlighted temperature goes above 70 degrees, i would recommend turning the overclock down until you have a better cooler. usually the core temperatures are more/less 10 degrees lower or higher than the fother temperature readings (can't remember of top of my head lol) smile.gif

2.png

This should be ok for now, if you need any more help just give me a shout and i'll see what i can do smile.gif

it will be the 'Memory over voltage'

EDIT

I also see that you siad it has Vcore Over voltage; Change this to 1.27v for now and do as i said in the previous post, once the system becomes unstable i.e BSOD or restart, go back into BIOS and bump the voltage up by one notch until it becomes stable again, also don't forget to check the temperatures.

Oh and the Max Vcore for that processor is 1.3625V, only use upto this voltage if temperatures are looking good.

good luck!

I've done everything as you said, just haven't touched Vcore Over Voltage because there was no such an option like 1.27 (so it's auto for now).
Now my CPU is 2.70GHz and here is the result of stress test.

npvy6uj06oeaavqcdhjy.jpg

Max. temperature was 59c. on first core.

Thats good, not bad temperature either for the stock cooler smile.gif

What options does it give for the Vcore over voltage? also you can try and get higher, im suspecting upto atleast 3GHz to 3.2GHz, and with a better cooler you can get upto 3.7GHz on the E3300's, just depending on vcore options though.

EDIT:

Iv just had another look at how these overclock, you should be able to get 3.3GHz straight away by changing the FSB to 266MHz, it might need a slight increase in voltage, but there reporting that it should be able to hit that speed at stock.

Also i have a question. I can see that CPU is overclocked, but only when i turn on my computer (basically in the bios start up). But in Windows 7 properties, or in CPU-Z i can't see that. Is it okay, or not?

P.S. 3GHz would be great.

Well, just keep the voltage at 'AUTO' for now, and the reason you don't see it in windows is because of Speedstep, what it basically does is downclock your CPU to save power and lower temperatures but only when idle, you can disable this in BIOS, it should be under something along the lines of CPU information, just look around the BIOS and you should find it smile.gif

And for 3GHz you will need to change the Bus speed to 240MHz, you can try that now and test for stability smile.gif

EDIT:

Also just to be sure, did you have CPU-Z open while Intel burn test was running? it should show the overclock when at full load in CPU-Z.

No, but right now i've disabled Speedstep, and i can see my overclock clearly.

Well.. right now i will try to jump on 3GHz, test it. And if everything will go as planned, i'll try to reach 3.33GHz.

Edit:

As i was thinking, no 3GHz for me. Because of 667 memory, or something like that.

Good, and for trying to get to 3Ghz, change the memory voltage to 2.0v and that should help you achieve a higher speed, my old 667MHz ram could overclock really well, got my old Pentium 4 to 4.1Ghz with the memory at 970Mhz with just 2.0v smile.gif it may work just as well for you.
