Low PPD on Phenom II 965

Thread Starter
So, I have a Radeon 4850, and a Phenom II 965 X4 both folding. As per zodac's guide on ATI folding rigs, the SMP folds on the first 3 cores and the 4850 folds on the last one. Also I have BOINC running on the last core, which doesn't interfere at all with the SMP, as SMP doesn't use that core.

Cores 1-3 - SMP

Core 4 - BOINC and GPU

I use HFM to monitor, and I use Windows 7 64-bit. Everything is at stock clocks at the moment.

On the SMP, I get a TPF of about 11 minutes, and a PPD of 636.4 (1851 if I turn on bonus calculation). On the GPU, I get a PPD of 1452 and a TPF of 5 minutes.

Are these values normal? The CPU PPD seems awfully low, and it's not doing anything I haven't mentioned (No gaming etc.)

According to this, you should be making a bit more PPD.

Try turning off the GPU and just folding -smp -advmethods on your CPU.

That's what I do and I generally get around 6k to 7.5k PPD (with bonuses). I actually get less while folding on my 4890 and my CPU on 3 cores.

what credit does the WU get without bonuses?

Credit for SMP says 481

I haven't actually completed a WU yet. Just my PPD looks iffy.

open up task manager and see how much CPU time fahcore_a3.exe is getting
post #10 of 35
Yeah, my PPD on a 6069, which is a similar WU is currently 6193, with a TPF of 6:19 (it will go down to about 5:45 if I stop using it.) I am at 3700 mhz right now.

Of course, I am folding on all 4 cores, and I don't have a GPU folding and making my case hotter...
