Linux. Lighter weight than windows, runs better, virus immune (well not literally but not many viruses exist for it)

at least non need of antivirus wich on a netbook take way too much resources
post #15 of 20
I run Arch with Gnome on my netbook. It's as easy to use as Ubuntu, but it does need a lot more work setting it up. The plus side is that you end up with a very minimal install that shouldn't use loads of system resources. I find that my netbook runs beautifully under Arch.

I might try arch...i heard only good thing about it, I already install Gentoo last years, After lot of hours of intense work and pain it was working..until the drive fail on my old server.... No one have experience with the GMA500
post #17 of 20
I want to say that the GMA500 is better then GMA950, cause I THINK it has support for high deffinition decoding and stuff, but I can't find proof of that.

Yes the GMA500 is way faster then the GMA950, suporrt decoding and dx 10.1 but the driver for it are the worst....poeple that complain about ATI driver never try that one... The card is in reality make by PowerVR and they are the one wich make the driver and not intel.
So due to driver issues, the 950 beats the 500. Ok then, that sucks.

Exactly but i heard/Read that the Windows 7 Driver is better then the XP, and at the time of Ubuntu 9.10 the driver was better with windows but with 10.4 i read that was better under linux
