RAM Recommendation for i7 860 Overclock

I currently have 8GB (4x2GB) of G.Skill Eco DDR3-1600 7-8-7-24. Problem is, I think having all 4 DIMMs populated is hindering my overclock. I need 1.33 VTT to keep stable at 1448MHz (181x8). No amount of VTT or VDIMM will let me boot at 1810 MHz (181x10).

So, I'm considering using part of my tax refund to buy new RAM. I was thinking of getting 2x4GB of 1800-2000MHz RAM which should hopefully let me run at the 2:10 multiplier instead of 2:8.

My questions are:
1. Will going from 4x2GB to 2x4GB and freeing up 2 DIMMs allow me to achieve a better overclock, or perhaps a stable overclock at a lower VTT?
2. Is it worth spending the extra money on 1800-2000MHz RAM vs 1600MHz (i.e. is running at 2:10 multi worth it over running at 2:8 multi).
3. If so, what ram? I prefer G.Skill but I've had luck with Corsair and Mushkin as well. See pic below for my RAM clearance. I don't have a lot of space for huge heatsinks. (edit: after checking my motherboard manual it looks like the white DIMM slots are used first. So maybe clearance wouldn't be a huge problem) This is what I've found on NewEgg:

1800-2000: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ue=524%3A30386
1600: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ue=524%3A29371

Thanks!

Personally having 2000Mhz ram myself it does not make much of a difference to have such a high memory frequency when my processor cant keep up to it anyways even at 4.2Ghz. IMO spend your money on something that will benefit you more like another 5870 or something.

I had the same problem as you since my 4 x 2gb ram was affecting the way I can overclock by forcing higher voltages.
So I took a chance and ordered corsair 2 x 4gb and hopefully I will be able to lower my volts a bit. But form what I had gathered is that having all dimm full does affect overclocking indeed as well as stressing the cpu memory control and what not.

Thanks for the replies. I think for now I might just take out 2 of my current sticks of memory and see how I do with only 2 sticks/4 GB of RAM. If that experiment is a success, maybe I will look into an 8GB kit later.

Good choice 8gb of ram is just plain ridiculous for a gaming pc anyway.Considering you barely ever will use more than 2gb.

Even 800*Mhz RAM can tranfer more MB/s than your CPU..
