Monitor not turning on - OC issue

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I've had my computer at several different BCLKs such as 160 / 172 /180 / 200 and so on. With 160, my vcore is at 1.1, DRAM at 1.65, I left ioh and QPI all on auto. This setting runs stable on OCCT / P95 / LinX. At 172, my vcore is at 1.2, also running stable on those programs. What is strange is every time I shut off my computer, the monitor does not turn on the next day. I would have to restart the computer manually for it to turn on, and it would leave me the "overclocking failed message" I don't get BSODs or freezes for everyday use, so what setting is causing the monitor to not boot up?

Is it connected with an HDMI? I had the same issue on my older computer, but haven't noticed it with this one. I did read it's not an unusual problem with monitors connected via HDMI. BTW, when it happened, i just had to turn the monitor off and on and the signal was there.

No, for me its connected through DVI. When I turn off the monitor and on again it still says no signal. It only works when I turn off the computer by holding down the power, and repowering it. Then it'll say Overclocking failure, press f1 to setup or f2 to load defaults.

Well, I dunno, your guess is as good as mine, but if it's telling you your oc is no good, then maybe that's it. Does it do it at stock speeds? Does it do it every time? How about the cable, can you try a new one

I am on a i7 920 and it was only OCed to 3.6ghz. I tested for stability on OCCT, p95, linX. All stable =\\. If I revert to stock 2.67ghz, I don't get this issue. I already know its an OC issue, but I was wondering which settings specifically might be causing this. Could it be memory or vcore?

I don't see how a stable oc could cause that, But then again, that's why i'm here, because i obviously don't know everything. Easy enough though, try a couple notches up on the v core and see it it helps. maybe try a new bclk that lowers your memory below spec so you can eliminate that. or run some memtest just to be sure its ok. Good luck

Have you tried checking out both of your video cards, especially the one connected to the monitor? If the monitor says "no signal" then that means either the vidcard isn't sending it anything, or the monitor isn't receiving what's being sent. Try taking them out & re-seating them.

Hello dorkseid, I have indeed tried both video cards. I tried plugging into both only to have no signal either way. And also I get the OC failure msg, so isn't this pointing directly at my OC and not at my GPU? My GPU settings are on stock, I have not OCed them.

Thanks Sling, Im gona run memtest and see how it goes. I can't imagine upping my vcore too much because im at such a low OC. I have tried up to 1.25 for 3.6ghz, only to have the same monitor issue.

I should also add that this issue only happens when I leave my computer off overnight. Last night I turned off my computer for 5 minutes and turned it back on and this did not happen. For some reason, my computer just doesn't want to be turned off for too long =\\?
