Nice!
I'm with you on going ahead with Sandy Bridge, just got my mother board order placed right before Newegg pulled them.

It is said that it doesn't effect SATA III ports, so use those.

Here is a quote from a Intel Spokesman

"It was the result of a series of stress tests conducted on the chipset. It didn't show up under normal testing," explained Intel spokesman Chuck Mulloy. "The problem wouldn't happen immediately but after two to four years."
For the time being, Intel assures those users with new Sandy Bridge PCs that they can "continue to use their systems with confidence, while working with their computer manufacturer for a permanent solution".

I would say nothing to be worried about as most of us don't keep our computers for that long, plus the SATA 3 ports are not affected.

idk where you saw that but 970s still hold a pretty significant advantage in folding against SB. My 970 at just 4ghz beats the SB ive seen at 5ghzish by about 10k ppd. Hardly getting its ass kicked. Not to say SB is not great on its own right but if you are going for all out folding performance the hexacore cpus are still top dog by a good bit.

Judging by the pic in your avatar, I'll just

Some of us can't drop huge money on a CPU.

I paid 180 for my 2500k...what'd you pay for your 970?

(I used to have a big turbo SRT-4, and when the AWD guys would barely beat me out in races, I'd pretty much say the same thing )

lol why are you getting defensive? he didnt put down your cpu, he just said the 970 is still a good value for folding, which i agree, you can find them new in box for ~$500

Eh, i think bgtrance and beerpowered and the rest of us all are more talking about some of the benchie reviews. If I could, I too would have purchased a 6 core, 12 thread folding monster. Besides, it seems that the non SB intel users are the ones getting defensive

It looks like you decided to keep it. I cant be happier with my new 2600k. Its been folding away for the past 24 hours stable at 4.8ghz. Its pulling 47k ppd on a p6900 wu right now!

Stick with SB, it's a great chip, and by the time the motherboard problem is sorted I'm sure Intel will have a few more SB chips to show off their fixed platform.
