i7 930 vs i7 950 vs i7 2600k

Well I am selling my i7 930 on ebay at the moment, I was selling it to get the 950 for $199, I see the Sandy Bridge i7 2600k is $80 more, is it work selling my mobo too to be able to get the i7 2600k or should I just stick the 950 I am going to get?

the main difference is built in graphics, so it shouldn't have an enormous effect. personal preference, really.

To be honest idk why you're selling the 930 for a 950. Can your 930 honestly not get to 4GHZ? Keep your 930, oc it and be happy, SB has a small mobo hard drive controller problem and they they're all off the selves so you will have to wait a bit if you want SB.

Don't go 930 to 950 unless you have a terrible chip. I have a C0 920 and I can still hit 4.0 and keep my temps in check wth a H70 so unless you have to put 1.4 through it, I say save your money for a few months and get ivy.

what, i7 930 for i7 950? Thats like the dumbest thing ive ever heard, that would be like my selling my E5200 so i could get an E5400, for 200mhz more. OC it and never EVER ask this question again, as for 2600k it has built in graphics, but who would use that if you have a good video card.

I think it's a moot point today and I don't see the point in selling your 930 unless it's a dog. No guarantee the 950 will clock faster anyway. I know several people that out oc my 950 with their 920 or 930's. nonetheless, when the SB issue is worked out, it offers the best clock for clock preformance. Worth 80 bucks more than a 950. I duuno, but considering you need a new mobo too, maybe not

If you oc, there is still no guarantee that it will be an upgrade. I guess if you don't, you will get some benefit. Of course, you are on an overclocking forum, so i'm guessing you do, or will.

Thanks everyone for not going overboard with this SB silicon issue.

@ the OP, the 950 is an insane CPU, but so is the 930. Personally, I wouldn't make the jump right now, as I would wait for BD. If that is a fail then go SB. Or wait till IB in Q4..... light years away (figuratively).

Even in this case I would be skeptical, there is a good chance you could get a worse overclocker that what you have. What is the VID of your current chip?
