Thread Starter
ok i have been trying to figure out what i can do i have a XFX Core Edition GS250XZSL4 GeForce GTS 250. i want to run SLI but i cant find that card at a reliable site to buy so i want to know what other cards are compatible.

i found these two but honestly idk anything about SLI compatibility other then the exact same card.

XFX GS-250X-YDFV GeForce GTS 250 512MB

ZOTAC ZT-20109-10P GeForce GTS 250

Thanks

Or am i better off to get 1 card that is better???

what exactly is your question?
i'll try to answer anyway.

brand doesnt matter. as long as your card has the exact same amount of memory and is the same model number it will SLi.

for example, your XFX GTS250 512MB could SLi with my EVGA GTS250 512MB

if that zotac GTS250 has 1GB of memory then IT CANNOT SLI WITH THE XFX GTS250 that has 512MB.

The only thing that matters with SLI is that its the same GPU. Brands and memory sizes do NOT matter at all. You could SLI a 1GB card with a 512MB card, as long as they're both GTS 250's. You could SLI a Zotac with an eVGA, ti doesn't matter.

You will always be limited by the slower clocked, and lesser amount of memory card though. So if you put a 512 card with a 1GB card, you'd only have 512MB of vRAM. If you put a card that's at stock 600 core with one that's factory overclocked to 700 core...you'd run both at 600 core (just pulling numbers out of my butt here).

no im pretty sure they must have the same memory size.
this isnt ATi...

heres proof from SLizone.com:

Can I mix and match graphics cards with different sizes of memory?
No. For example, an XXXGT 512MB cannot be paired with a XXXGT 1GB in an SLI configuration.

if the rest of your rig wont be bottlenecked than GO FOR IT! and like they said it doesn't really matter what brand it is. it's still the same little pieces of silicon and metal.

also, it'd be REALLY helpful for questions like this if you add your computer's information into your signature, do that by going to user CP and click "add system" and then enter all of your computer's specs.
