Everyone keeps saying IB IB IB, when x68 which is the new 1366 replacement is going to crush all. Anyways, there are some new boards coming out for 1366 here soon so I would wait till the new boards get released to buy. (Asus Rampage Extreme iii Black Edition) (Gigabyte G1 Killer)

Last question, any recommendations for the memory? Already over my 1500 budget but oh well just let me know I had the gskill ripjaws x series 8gb in there. If I didnt have to get a new monitor I would be golden. But nevertheless if I need it ill get it. And I doubt the new boards are gettin released this week I plan on ordering this week and cant wait using the wife crap laptop right now so it was time to rebuild since my other machine went down hole.

You can use your other memory, it just won't run triple channel.... hell you could use one dim it doesn't matter.

Triple channel is kinda gimmicky anyways yea there are advantages but it's really just meh.

1) I find it hilarious (and kind of sad) that people are already asking if first gen i7s are "viable." 1155 was never meant to be a direct upgrade to 1366. 1366 is still an amazing socket, and in some ways even better.

2) There is no such thing as "dual-channel" or "triple-channel" RAM. It's all the same memory. What matters is how you have it configured in your mobo. If you have 2, 4, or 6 sticks, then you're in dual channel. (assuming for 6 that you have 3 sets of 2 and not 2 sets of 3) If you have 3 or 6 (2 sets of 3) DIMMs, then you're in triple-channel.
