70$ dollars off tells me that it's crap and they are trying to get rid of them.
They aren't crap, big discounts doesn't in any way indicate that they are garbage or anything. Sometimes very high end products will go on big discounts if the product is being discontinued.
EDIT: And in this case it isn't even a clearance price, that's the discount from the MSRP. Jeez, don't make rash judgments man.

Now, this PSU in particular isn't terrible, but isn't great. Kingwin was very hit and miss until they released the Lazer and Lazer Gold lines, I forget if this one had mediocre v-reg, or ripple, or if it was just crap efficiency. I don't remember which, and JonnyGURU is offline due to server trouble.

It won't be dangerous to your system or anything, but it's not a top tier unit by any means.

This is the model before the lazer and lazer gold. It's not terrible, but it's not brilliant either. I seem to remember it's ok tho. But do you really need 1kw?
HardOCP gave it a decent review, and google's cached version of JG is failing to provide me more than page 1 right now... *sigh*

Well this isn't for my sig rig, it's for a new build that will include at least two an possibly 3 gtx580's for a multiple screen setup. Would that justify a 1k power supply? Will have two ssd raid and one regular drive for storage and all your other typical stuff that goes along with a computer.

You're willing to spend $1500 on graphics cards, probably another $1k on monitors, at least $400 on dual SSD's, and you're afraid to cough up $200 for a known quality power supply? Get your priorities straight.

While HardOCP gave it a reasonable review, JG found it got some pretty crazy 12v ripple when pushed. You're better off buying a really good PSU.

This^^^.

Corsair AX1200 or Antec HCP-1200 (ie) for a high-end rig your planning.

The Kingwin LZ 1000 is also a decent PSU.

Ok first off I'm sorta new to the high end psu market so no need to get excited hence this is why I made this thread asking about this psu, I remember people on here talking about kingwin being good obviously it wasn't this model. I am here to LEARN and get opinions. And I failed to mention that I will get the cards and multiple monitor Eventually. I can't afford all that stuff at once but I DO plan on gettin there. Perhaps I should ask the question, If not this power supply which would you choose for a system of that calibre? I'll take a look at the ones mentioned above, thanks
