"In 11 days, we went from skin cells to beating heart cells in a dish," said Ding. "It was phenomenal to see."
Quote:
In addition to better understanding the basic biology of stem cells, the next step will be to modify this technique further to remove the need for inserting the four genes, which have been linked to the development of cancer. As a result, many scientists, including Ding, have been working on new techniques to develop iPS cells without use of these genes. That has proven difficult.

One step closer to the zombie apocalypse I've been preparing for! I kid, I kid. In all seriousness, this is a very promising breakthrough. Now all we have to do is learn how to cure/prevent cancer

I am legend would be the worst way to go in a zombie apocalypse. I'd be leaning towards more of a Zombieland Armageddon. But I guess we can do stem cell research again o.o

5 yrs ago I was ready. Nowadays my cardio isn't up to snuff. I'd be like the fat guy that got chased down on the football field in the opening.
