Safe Temps and overclock i5 760

Hi

I have just brought this computer from Cube 24-7:

http://www.cube247.co.uk/products.asp?partno=Atlas+GT2

It comes pre overclocked to 3.8GHz but I'm worried about the temps. At idle, using PC probe, 39degrees and under load, using Prime95, hits 60degrees very quickly with fan at 100% and then I stop the tests.

A friend of mine has an overclocked AMD setup and he has read not let temps get near 60 but is that just for AMD? Idle seems way too high also. Vcore is 1.29V. I read this review:

http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/cpu_mainboard/intel_i5_760_review/1

and they also had alot better temps for an even bigger clock?

It is my first watercooled setup, are there any changes that can be made that I am missing? I have just used the Asus AI suite to set CPU fan speed to 'turbo'.

Also RAM seems to be underclocked at 1000MHz?

This doesnt seem right to me.

Thanks for help.

John

Just as long as you don't exceed 80c temps are fine. 4GHz on my i5-750 with my H50 Push/Pull My load temps are 69-70c during Prime 95 blend and LinX. It will occasionally fluctuate between 70-74 on Core 1 and Core 3 but temps are really stable, I just assumed that was from the heat spreader on the CPU not being completely even. lol

I would reset your BIOS/CMOS and reseat the CPU cooler, also manually set the RAM speed by its stock specs. Also, your friend is a bit paranoid, 60c is ok for any modern AMD CPU as the max is between 62 and 70. It's ok to let it get here too by accident (forgot to plug in CPU fan) as it will auto shut off. However for a 24/7 load temp that is high.
