New to Overcloaking

Thread Starter
I'm new to overclocking so I wanted to see if my number are good or not.

system list
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition w/stock heat sink and fan
Asus m4n82
CORSAIR XMS2 4GB (2 x 2GB)
EVGA GeForce GTS 250 1Gb
Cooler Master RC-692-KKN2 CM690 II
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit

I have AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition ocd to 3.4, I changed the cpu ratio to 17 and the volt to 1.385 the temps going off of speed fan 4.42 are Temp1 36C temp2 27 idle and Temp1 saw it in the mid 50's mostly (I never higher than 56 maybe 57 once) during 5 hours of prime95 temp2 I forget the numbers know.

I know in time I will need to update/upgrade the MB, ram, and heat sink/fan but for know is what I have.

Ps this my first time overclocking

Quick question, I know you can change other setting other than the cpu ratio but im not sure what they are and what to change them to without changing the voltage to boost my oc numbers. I hoping you guys might be able to tell me.

First of all, it's overclocking, not overcloaking ;P. (are you using your cloak too much? lol, no offense).

If U wanna push it further, get another cooler.

Hmm, overcloaking... yes, you get a cloak, then put it over [insert the thing that the cloak goes over here].

lol, JK. Overclocking.

That is a fairly low OC, you chip is capable of 4+GHz. I'd say get a better heatsink though. Temps above 55c will start to severely degrade a CPU, don't worry though, you didn't do any harm.

So try to stay below 55c, 1.55VCore, and you should be good to go

Also, 4GHz settings might look like:
Multi: 20
FSB: 200
VCore: Around 1.45-1.5 Volts.

Hope that helped

Sean

EDIT: Also, fill in your sig with your rig! In the top bar of OCN, go to Quick Links, then User Control Panel, then go to Add System at the left.

Its overclock, not overcloak... But get yourself an aftermath cooler and push it more. That thing can probably do 4.0Ghz easily.

Edit: Looks like I was too late lol

Great, first thing its Overclocking.
That board you are using is the DDR2 one right?
Was the CPU unstable at stock Volts ?

Ok can people please stop pointing out that he didn't write "overclocking" correctly? ):

it's tearing me apart that he has to read it in every post here and feel somehow bad. (Yes I know I pointed it out but I was first ;<)

PS! How do I get in contact with a moderator? I accidently inserted the wrong username on registration and would like to get this changed. I dunno where to ask so I might ask here.

thanks

Also, some things you can do are:
Make sure your thermal paste is applied correctly.
Make sure you have good airflow in your case.
