4 gtx580 will be stronger then 2 gtx595 but again GTX580 in quad sli dont support 3d gaming not talking even on surround 3d its just impossible and 2 GTX595 in quad sli will be 100% stronger then 3 GT5850 3GB

the GTX595 has 2 cores each one is a GTX580 core down clocked it will have 3GB of memory and it will support 3d in quad core unlike the gtx580

4 GTX580 cores (on the GTX595 SLI) will be stonger then 3 even if the 4 cores are down clocked!

...... ......
look at the GTX295 it have 2 GTX275 cores down clocked
so each core was weaker then a normal GTX275

but in SLI the GTX295 was stronger even then 3 GTX285!!!

even tough the 285 was a stronger core from the begining then a 275 core, and the 275 cores on the 295 was down clocked the 295 in sli won over then 285 in tri sli...

it will probably be the same here with the GTX595, not only that the GTX595 have GTX580 cores and not GTX570 cores...
GTX 580's work fine in quad-sli, you have old information. GTX 595's will only have 1.5GB frame-buffers. The 4x 3GB frame-buffer 580's will absolutely destroy 2x 595's in high resolution surround setups.

Unless you are saying that for some reason GTX 480's could work quad-SLI surround yet 580's cant for some reason? That wouldn't make much sense:

^ in the crysis video below i see wonderful scaling of quad-SLI. on those explosion scenes, the tri SLI set up would drop down to 38 fps while the quad-SLI set up stays strong at 79 fps. although in more static scenes the tri-SLI edge out by a few fps.
and that's only 1600p. totally worth it if u got $ to be honest.
are you CPU limited in any way with multi-GPU with the lastest intel CPU?

Hay Guys check it out...

I came across a user review of the 3GB Palith GTX 580's on the EVGA.com forums with lots of good info, Nvidia surround performance numbers, and memory usage numbers @ a 7920x1600 resolution.

It's worth a look.
