Fermi response really well to overclock comapres to the NI.
The scaling is pretty much the same.
I don't own a 6900 series but from my 5800s experience, the 480s gave me less trouble when CF/SLI.

And most importantly, the nvidia card doesn't require the 3D/2D profile for proper idle when oc with AB.

Neither does my 6950. Modded bios, overclocked and added voltage and idle clocks work fine.

Mine does not require modded bios, overclock setting simply applied at startup by AB and the clock speed quickly drop to 51 within a few seconds.

On the other hand, my 5850 and 5870's clock speeds were always all over the place.

im currently in the same boat im thinking im going to go with the 570 tho realy good performance just a bit slower than the 6970 in benchmarks and newegg has been having the asus/msi open box for $269 which i think is a great deal and almost $100 less than the 6970
post #18 of 59
All I will say is that I've been looking into the 6970 (6-8) reviews and am sick with it's lack of support (driver) and the overall lack of OC'ing capabilities, such a weak card if you ask me. a GTX570 will OC roughly another 200mhz which isn't what the average 6970 is willing to do.

slower than the 6970? The benches ive seen, on Anandtech, hardware heaven, even youtube videos, the 570 is at the least, equal to the 6970, if not faster. The only time ive seen the 570s fps dip below the 6970s was again, in resolutions 2560x1600 and higher, and i find the 6970, along with other radeon cards, to be to exclusive to particular gaming because it has features not everyone can take advantage of, eyefinity for example, a great feature but will i ever use it, not likely. The 570 is the 580's little brother, a little brother im gunna overclock and make match the 580, plus, im getting 2 570s ive decided...Dont get me wrong, love ATI, but Nvidia is a better, all around route to go, its almost like gaming and computers are geared towards nvidia, everey single computer you see sold in bestbuy, compusa, etc....all run off of nvidia chipsets, you go on newegg and look at nvidia cards and there's 6 extra pages over ATI......going with the 570s and theyre gunna be awesome, its superior to the 6970, 'nuff said...
