Sandy bridge CPU
CPU's are made from Silicon wafers
The Silicon wafers are made from refined sand

What will we do when the beaches are all gone

sorry, I know off topic

Thank God NCIX is not making Canadian idiots think that CPU has a design problem.
I uh, don't think that Newegg really cares what you think the problem is. I think they made a business decision and decided that a lot of the mobos that the SB chips require are going to be either returned, replaced, or refunded. Honestly, can you blame them?

I understand just fine that I can use the other ports on the board, install an external SATA card, or these other solutions but none of them actually FIX the problem. I still could possibly have a defective piece of equipment, and that is something that I can't live with.

To put it in perspective, I have an old machine where the SATA Ports no longer work, but everything else is fine... and it has an old IDE port on it, but rather than plug in an IDE hard drive and continue to use the machine (which I already have so I wouldn't even need to buy it) I just bought a whole new computer and now that one just sits in the corner collecting dust.

Make sand by crushing rocks. Re-use sand by recycling things made from sand, like glass.

seriously people? is it that hard to read like 10 lines of sentence and figure out *** is going on?

I think some people are over-reacting a bit...
i think newegg deactivating all sandy bridge skus says a WHOLE lot.

I saw so many people trying to attack SB before and after it's release, such as kill switch, Foxconn's socket, don't 1.32v+ vcore. Also BD and Ivy Bridge will kick SB butt, well who doesn't know future tech will be better than today's.

You don't think selling a processor that nobody sells boards for is a silly idea?

That's a given. But it also means that when BD and IB are released, there will be something on the horizon that will kick their butts too.

Yuo can't buy the CPUs anymore because now nobody sells boards they go into. I think that's because the people who sell them here realize that not everyone is... very smart. I mean we've even had people here, on OCN of all places, asking if they can use 1155 CPUs in 1366 boards. Newegg and the like are just insulating themselves from idiot backlash.

Seems pointless to me. Sell faulty boards, then you gotta refund 'em when they die. What's the point?
This is true but out of every single board that is faulty id say only half maybe less will actually know there's a problem or even fail atall? so the costs saved is quite high this way + the retailers still make thier markup by selling the stuff, i agree it is wrong selling faulty equipment but greedy buisnesses don't usually care, atleast not in the uk

The internet is the place for overreaction. You can say virtually anything you want without suffering any consequence, so of course people make illogical statements. What people need to do is not overreact to ridiculous opinions, because that's all they are - the opinions of X guy behind his computer. Oftentimes, you will see people admit they know what's going on, but they are enjoying the **** talk pile on.
