you can use the backup utility to back up your files to a dvd as for steam games etc you can redownload them you can also go and buy a cheap 250gb hdd and just backup that way you can get them now for less than £20 uk about $27usd...

Sounds like you got a lot of dvds to burn. Or if your drive is big enough partition it and move the stuff you want to keep to that side. Then when you get done running the os. You can copy the stuff over then remove the partition and be set.
