GTX 570 performance Bad Company 2 - Page 2

post #11 of 18
Having on 570 on a dual (or triple) core = fail

quad core at least for a 570

@OP

Your RAM isn't necessarily the issue; it's more CPU frequency/core count related. BC2 can use more than four cores, if available and the higher your frequency the better your output.

Example:

Even with my x6 @ 2.8 Ghz (stock) I can't get 90%+ usage on my GTX260. With 3.5Ghz I can get 80%+. @ 3.7Ghz I get 95~99% usage on my GPU and even distribution of 60~68% usage on all cores, with DDR3 @ 1600 7-6-6-16-21.

It *can* run more than 4 cores but it really wont matter so long as u have at least 4 core that are highly clocked.

CPU plays a big part, maybe ddr2 has some affect also...

Here is my current setup - settings are maxed out 1080 - 16x 32x HBAO on.

Here is a vid from my 1090T on DDR2 - same settings same gpu (sound was set to multi-channel and encoded poorly sorry about that)

The 1090T/DDR2 system lagged slightly more than the i5-2500k did (which doesn't really lag at all even with fraps) even though it had two extra cores.

Ignore the video quality, first one was encoded with handbrake (which I'll probably never use again) - the second was encoded with microsoft expression encoder.

Edit: I should also note the 1090T system couldn't maintain 60 fps, I had to record it around 30, the i5 system was able to do more than 60 fps with fraps running, but I locked it in at 60, lowest I saw (I was busy dying) was around 54.

ass ppl said here, this game is very cpu depended, so, your gtx 570 will run alot better with a quad core at decent speed ( over 3.6ghz ) at 1920*1080 everythin on the highest vson off of course i get over 80 fps on avg some times a reached over 100 fps and my minimun was about 50 fps..

I had a q6600 @ 3.3 ghz. changed to sandy bridge (stock) --> much better performance. Where I first could only handle 2xaa and decent fps but still not smooth. I can now do 16xaa and smooth as ice!

OS plays a big part in that game too. XP (DX9), I can get 60-80fps on my Q6700 @ 3.4Ghz and GTX260 core216. Settings damn near maxxed in nVidia Control Panel, 1920x1080.

So do you guys think I should just get the X4 920 for $109?
I don't want to go AM3 yet because I want to wait for Bulldozer(AM3+) or until Intel fixes their chipsets, and I probably won't have money until Summer or Fall.
