For those who have Sandy Bridge and Asus P8P67

Are any of you just going to keep it? I just had a computer custom built, is it worth not using it for a month and getting new hardware? I have the Asus P8P67 PRO and i5-2500k

Since will likely be without a motherboard for a few weeks(once they have the fixed mobo's available), I'll probably try to get my money back for my P8P67 mobo and hope something catches my eye. I only got this mobo because nothing else jumped out at me! Just needed a base for my 2600k

I'm keeping mine until they offer Advanced Replacement for the revised version. The issue a long term issue, so I don't care about it right now

I'm sure you can get it recalled once the replacements are available. If it is anything like an automotive recall they are good forever. Just pretend you didn't find out until 2 months from now.

Yup, same here. I'm gonna use it just like I am until they have one to give me. I dont' even use the SATA2 on it anyway. Have 4 drives so SATA3 works just fine.

I have another question, can someone explain SATA on Mobos to me? Like I have the CPU and Mobo (SB and p8p67) and I also have a SATA III 64mb HDD, does that have anything to do with it?

Grey = P67 SATA 6Gbps Ports, these use a separate controller from the actual chipset.
Dark Blue = Marvel SATA 6Gbps, these use a separate chip on the motherboard.
Light Blue = SATA 3Gbps Controller, which is also separately connected to the P67 Chipset.

The Grey and Dark Blue ones are perfectly fine and are safe to operate. The Light Blue SATA 3Gbps have the flaw with the low grade metal layers that degrade over time of extended usage. (In approximately 3 years 5% of the boards made now may have their SATA 3Gbps Ports failing.)

So, As long as you DO NOT use the SATA 3Gbps Ports(Grey ones), you will/should have no issue.

Ok, sorry if I'm asking the same question again, I aprreciate yor help by the way. But, what would be used on the light blue SATA 3gbps ports? Is it the HDD? I have the WD 1 TB Caviar Black SATA 3 6 gbps. Sorry again, just curious.

Put your DVD Drive on the Sata 3Gbps, then put everything else on the Marvel(Dark Blue) and P67 6Gbps(Grey).
