are all sata 6 gbs ports danger-free?

Thread Starter
I was planning on getting an asus p67 sabertooth mobo until i heard about all this p67 talk and how all 4 sata 3gbps ports degrade over time.

my mobo comes with 4 sata 6 gbps ports and i was wondering if the extra non-intel 2 are affected? also im pretty sure i remember reading it somewhere but can i connect my sata II hdd to a sata III port?

this isnt really a problem for me because i was only planning to get a 1tb hdd and a dvd burner and 2-3 years down the line throw in an ssd boot drive and maybe a second hdd for a raid 1 configuration.

So what i want to know is based on what i said/asked above is the sabertooth p67 a go?
will waiting for the p67 refresh do me any good?

thanks

Not to be a dick, but you are aware that the power delivery for the sabertooth is only 8 x 2?

Plus with everything going on, it more than likely will get delayed anyway.

Yes, Sata 6gbps is fine to use 24/7. Only the Sata 3gbps controller is faulty.

Your Sandy Bridge Processor will pretty much burst into flames if you even think about using one of the SATA II ports.

It's true, Intel told me so.

LOL thanks for all the responses guys.
will raid 1 work with my hdd's on sata III ports?

as for the power phase question:
yes i am aware, but the power phases of the sabertooth are of higher quality instead. Kinda like the maximus with its 8+3.

also the reason im saying this is because a local vendor is selling his p67/h67 boards at a price drop ($215 for sabertooth) and i was considering getting it.
