Activision has already publically stated that they are going to tap everything out of the COD franchise that they possibly can. Making game after game on the same engine with the same graphics and same feel for every game, but charging a full $60 for each one. Activision is a perfect example of a company that just wants to make money and has no concerns about pleasing anyone (except their invertors)

Crytek and Id are examples of the opposite.

ID Software are cool ppl, I remember when I bought quake 4 from the official website and I god a dvd copy that didn't work for some reason. We sent it back and they sent me an x-large t-shirt of quake 4 for free!

ID Software are good ppl, they could have just sent me a good copy back but they wanted to satisfy the customer for taking up their time a bit by sending me a t-shirt too.

Actually, they didn't even ask me to send the copy back now that I remember, they just sent me a new copy without the hassle of me sending it back! Not sure if I should tell ppl that cuz some of you dicks might take advantage of that.

Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare
Release date price $49.99 2007
Current price $29.99 2011

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
Release date price $59.99 2009
Current price $59.99 2011

Call of Duty Black Ops
Release date price $59.99 2010
Current price $59.99

Going from this trend there is no thinking. Activision/Blizzard/IW started this trend. I will never pay more than $49.99 for a PC game unless it was some kind of LE or had some kind of extra. They are charging us the same price as console gamers but they don't have to license anything. Basically free $10 for them.

I quit COD series after COD4 Modern Warfare. They removed dedicated servers and replaced it with user P2P hosting. The speed for regular people's internet is crap so people will have problems playing with lag. People modify server files so it automatically levels you up to 70 or whatever the cap is. IW/Activision/Blizzard has been going down hill with the COD series. They only cater to console players because that's where they make most of their $$$$$ so they don't care about PC players and keep shoving a new COD game every year to sell to console kiddies. Same game, same engine, just re-hashed with a new theme.

whats messed up about this is it definitely cost them less to make MW2 and BO, having already made the core game engine. They just charge more because they know they can.

And what is the outcome? Activision is striving with COD setting sales records,
and ID and Crytek almost went into bankrupcy.

I don't know why everyone gets so upset, just don't buy them and they will become cheaper. They will only sell them for what you are willing to pay. I have come to the age where I no longer care about getting a game the day it comes out or even the year it comes out. I don't own any activision games and this is probably why.
Here in Canada we have already seen $70 games and our dollar has been near or on par for years now.
I bought BFBC2 and Vietnam for $12 total and that is the game I'm playing the most right now.

Been higher for a while now actually, or at least even with USD :

1.00 CAD = 1.00766 USD

Is what its at right now. Good thing I buy most of my stuff online anyway.

$1 AUD is worth $1.01257 USD currently. Activision charges $90 for black ops and mw2, and $60 for COD4 on steam.

It's disgusting.

Your view of crysis is also disgusting.

Yeah, they got me in 07'. I was waiting to buy MW2 when it got below 30$. Looks like I'm just not buying the game, let alone BO.
We all need to grit our teeth and not buy into the COD series to show Activision who their maker is.

Being one who has developed a Crysis mod, I am very familiar with sandbox and the way Crysis works. I think PC gamers will be pleasantly suprised when it comes out. The reason we havent seen more about the PC version is because crytek doesnt want console gamers to see HOW MUCH BETTER it will be on PC.

Crytek's CEO coming out and blaming poor "sales" for crysis due to piracy is the biggest joke i've ever heard of.
How about the fact that the game was only playable on 30% of the PC Market? I think that would make a difference don't you think? If 70% of your market doesn't have the hardware to run the game, how do you think game sales will be (again im just estimating the % as an example, not actual facts/numbers)

86,633 in 2 weeks of launch beat its projected sales numbers
1 million sold after 2 months
3 million as of March 2010, when the PC Gaming market had computers that could finally begin to play the game.

One of the best selling PC games ever released, exceeding their sales numbers, and making the game profitable.

Cevat Yerli can come up with all the excuses he wishes, the fact of the matter is they released a game that's requirements were at least 1 year ahead of the mainstream market.

But he just used piracy as an excuse to make it so Crysis 2 doesn't have to follow up Crysis in terms of graphics, and can be dumbed down for consoles for more profit.

He just doesn't want to spend another 23 mil developing a game when he can spend half of it to get subpar graphics and more $$

This absolutely.

He even admitted after his piracy rant that Crysis sold almost double the predictions. They made a ton of money, well above what they expected, so no piracy had nothing to do with it.

Baaawww more, Crytek. that's all I have to say.

Do you see Valve QQing about piracy? No. They just release the game, and whatever happens happens. They don't saddle us with absurd DRM or go crying to Microsoft for some console releases.

i refuse to pay over $50 for a game. anything above that is absurd. If games go to $99/title i see myself quitting gaming almost altogether.

I think they forget who it is who pays for these games, it's either kids around 14-18 or their parents. Do you think kids can pay $99 for a title every couple months? most wouldn't be able to.

Activision is Activision's worst enemy.
