Best chipset for Q8200

Hello everyone.

So I'm thinking of overclocking my CPU, and currently have a Dell motherboard - so that's not possible:(

So I thought that buying a new one could be a good solution. I already determined to buy the H70 (if you know any better could be nice) for cooling. Also investing in the HAF X for good airflow(my current case only got 1 fan), so problems there I think.

But what chipset would be good for overclocking, and possible have some good heat pipes for the optimal cooling? I'm bit new, and have only overclocked my GPU before, so won't overclock much.

Thanks in advance:)

I think if you can still find P45-based motherboards, they'll be your best bet. The thing is for example where I live these kind of boards haven't been available since a few months ago, hope you find one.
With a better case and a good cooler you should reach 3GHz.

Ye they're awaible here. But in doubt what to buy. Also are all compatible with Windows 7? Because it just says on some "Compatible with Windows 7", does that mean some are not? The P45's are about 100-200 dollars. Won't run crossfire, but could use a good chipset cooler. So in doubt if it would be worth it to invest 100 dollars more in a better cooler.

Seeing that it's an Intel CPU, You could ask in the Intel forum area... You might just get a few more reply's there as there's more people viewing that forum area than the new member's thumb.gif

I had a lower-end P45 board not so long ago with a lump of copper as a NB cooler. I preferred getting this since it was cheaper and I already had a very good NB cooler called HR-05 SLI (from a previous build) which cooled my board very well. Also I bought a Zalman NB cooler to place on the SB and some Zalman graphic card memory heatsinks to place on the VRM. Overall my modded cooling system was good enough to keep the NB around 40-45°C and VRM below 60°C and the SB around room temperature.

... you should have posted in the Intel section, but for a beginner it'll pass. Cheers
