6950 Unlock Will Not Downclock

Thread Starter
Just as the title say's I flashed just to unlock the shader's but to keep the same clock values as the 6950. Then just overclock if I need to, problem is when i overclock the the 6970 stock clock's I have to up the voltage to 1.180v. Using msi afterburner, it then refuses to downclock and just keeps the 1.180v constantly, this is incredibly annoying as I would like my video card to run cold sometime. Is there ANY way of fixing this? I just want it to downclock in 2d mode.....

Also, before anyone tell's me to just flash to stock 6970 bios, it's unstable for me.

Have you tried a different 6970 BIOS?

Okay so i reflashed to Sapphire's 6970 Bios. XFX's didn't work. Heres the weird thing when i run furmark and msi kombustor i don't see artifacts or screen tearing of any kind, however when i watch a WMV i see this line across my screen. Also i see artifact's in 3dmark vantage. Any idea's why?

Could be that your Card is overclocked to high, try bumping down the setting's a little

Use a modded shader unlocked Asus 6950 BIOS and use Asus SmartDoctor to unlock CCC so it lets you overclock way past the old limit and then overclock with MSI Afterburner.

.1 of a volt is not going to make ur card any cooler , FYI i run my card at 1.3v almost 24/7 .. if i go from 0.9 to 1.3v i gain 4c idle .. Anyway , i know what will fix your problem ..

Download this .. http://85.12.17.139/showthread.php?p=3871006

set your overclock and play a game etc , when u come back to windows the clocks and voltages will drop to 250/150 @ .9v .... when u play a game it automatically shoots the clocks upto your desired overclock along with the voltages .

This is the first version of AB that downclocks the card when your not in 3d mode on the 69XX , 2.1.0 beta 6 didnt down clock my card but the version i linked u with does .

BTW dont use any bios other than the same manufacturer as ur card , TO me it sounds like u need more voltage to ur card or when ur watching movie is undervoting or something .. Try out msi Ab 2.1.0 beta 7 and see how u go .. If u cant go past 840 thats easily fixed , in after burner cfg file just enable unooficial overclock and sliders will go to 950/1450 .
