Do I need a new video card?

Thread Starter
Hi, Have a 5770 that has been good to me for 6 months. Recently while playing wow my monitor would shut off, everything else running. Cleaned card. ran furmark to test card and gpu-z to monitor temps. freezes up after 30 seconds..temp jumps from 55c to 105c in matter of seconds. (4 sec) fan is working..noticed red light on card lighting up.. Is it my card going bad or something else? driver is up to date. Is it time for a new card or something else is my problem? Thanks for any help

It seems to be a problem with the Graphics Card's Heatsink and fan. Now I Would recomend getting a New Graphics card to take advantage on the Low Prices and More modern cards. You should try getting a AMD Radeon HD 6850, Its better than your HD 5770 and it is around the same price. But if you want to repair it, try to Remove the fan and buying either an Aftermarket Graphics Card fan or water cooling for your graphics card.

Edit - to get myself back on topic - have you tried looking to see if the card is seated correctly? or if the power is connected properly?

RMA the card - 5770's are still good cards, no sense in just chucking it just because it is 6 months old.
