Physx>Cpu Deidicated Physx card

Thread Starter
Alright so i got my 570 GTX and did a driver sweep to get rid of the 260 GTX drivers.

But now im trying to use the 260 as a Physx card, But whatever option i choose to handle physx, Its stuck on using the CPU.

What can i be doing wrong?

You still need to install your 260 drivers though.

How do you know it's using CPU? You using fluid marks?

Download fluidmark and run some benches to see if it makes any difference. It will also tell you what you are using and i think you can select what to use as well.

Should be a case od simply selecting the 260 for PhysX in the nvidia control panel. Strange.

Hm when starting fluidmark it show Physx>GPU but not witch one.

Though i did some benchmarks with default settings

570>330 FPS average.
260>300 FPS average.

And i saw in afterburner that the 260 GPU was working.

Everything sounds normal there.

Metro physX will run on CPU unless you set 'Advanced PhysX' to On.

The 570 is going to perform better on a physX benchmark like fluidmark because the actual graphical load (rendering) is going to be extremely low.

When you actually game (mafia 2 is a good example) using high settings and resolutions and such, that's when the setup w/the dedicated physX will pull ahead, as the GTX570 will actually have 'other stuff to do'. It won't matter much in Metro though because it's physX are hella easy to run.

BTW, the newest nV drivers support both the 260 and 570 so if you grabbed those and installed them, both cards will be running those drivers, and will always use the same drivers from now on.
