New Egg is about to lose one if this is really how they do business

I purchased an open box Asus HD 6850 video card from New Egg and it arrived yesterday and its a mess. Artifacts, DVI ports dint work, screen splits in half, and lines through the screen etc etc. So I file an RMA. Now I have to ship the product back and pay shipping myself, ok, that sucks, but I can deal with it, still I'm out $20 shipping for both ways for a card that doesn't work that clearly wasn't tested for a second. Now my RMA gets approved and says a $20 restocking fee will be charged even though they cannot offer me a replacement! So now I'm out $40+ bucks for a card that I never even got to use! Is this normal practice by them, cuz if so they have seen the last of me, and I will flame them anywhere I go because that is horrible business and nothing but a rip off.

Get it corrected. That is unacceptable...

OR, go through Asus RMA. Either, or.

Talk to a Newegg rep over chat/phone. Ask them to remove the restocking fee. The computer automatically does this iirc.

Amazon.com returns are better imho. They pay for shipping and the computer does not automatically put a restocking fee on defective items.

You shouldn't have to pay shipping or a restocking fee. It's completely un-acceptable as you received it faulty.

Like others have said, phone them. Sometimes they are just automatically added by the computer.

Paying for shipping back to a company is normal. A restocking fee is normal (in my experience) if you want to return the card and get your money back. I would contact them and tell them the situation. They're usually really good at fixing their mistakes.

yeah i think you need to call them up and explain the situation, because if it's not working why should you have to pay restocking, you know?

Yeah thats not cool! I had a issue with a case, that had cut fan wires inside ( wasnt open box) I was happy with the way Newegg handled the issue. Hope you get this squared away. I did call and speak to a live rep also.
