Hijacked Steam account *curses*!!! - Page 2

You'll get it back. Steam support is usually slow but assuming you gave them the right details/receipts its only a matter of time.

I've seen robin walker get an account returned to its rightful owner in just a couple minutes, as the owner played competitive TF2 and had a match an hour later. But those are different circumstances, and I'm sure steam support gets a ridiculous amount of support tickets due to steams popularity and huge game list.

My friend was banned from steam last night because steam found "Oxygen" running in the background when my friend was playing BlackOps. He's a programmer, and was running it as a part of his job. Steam blows roosters....

My account was jacked once. I emailed Steam support with tons of proof that it was mine.

Shortly after it was stolen, the kid posted up his avatar and his handle. I did some hefty searching and ended up finding out tons of info about him. I then added him to MSN, presented all of this info... and threatened to call his parents (he was 15). He then gave me the password to MY account and I got it back.

24 hours later, Steam responded to my ticket. I ended up rectifying the situation myself. Though I think I got lucky as well. My steam account with $1400 worth of games, was sold for $8 to this 15 year old kid.

my advice, I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS buy the physical media. then you can still play the games or sell them instead of Steam giving you the finger.

...

Another one

Just wait, I've already got my account steal too. The guy probably had it for sometime, since it was about 6 mouth since my last login.
I had the email of the guy in my account, it's friend, everything.
Toke me a day to have my account back.
Just gave them a photo of my Half-life holiday pack 2007 CD-Key with my account name written near it and it was OK.

Same thing could happen if your house got broke into and they stole all your stuff along with your dvd's, bluerays and games. Except with Steam, if you do ever get your account hacked - you send a notification to support and you WILL get your account back (they may take a few days sometimes but they always sort it out).

Recently my sisters house got broken into just literally 3 weeks ago. Her husband doesn't really play PC games but they stole his PS3 and his whole collection of 30 odd games. In cases of house break-ins, the police can only do so much but 99% of the time the stuff that is stolen is never seen again.

Stop obsessing over physical copies it's not like you're going to sit every weekend licking the cases of your games. I used to use the same excuse too up until recently. I used to say to all my friends that i much preferred physical copies of games when truthfully i didn't really have a valid reason why - only that looking at the collection of all my games lined up in their cases made me feel good..... (which i about now thinking back).
Then Modern Warfare 2 came out, and being a big fan of cod 4 and all the hype of it at the time i wanted the game so badly. So i got it and although it was a disappointment i was introduced to Steam. Over time i familiarized myself with all its features and it lead me to realize how awesome Steam is.... and i can still look over my collection of games in that OCD/obsessive way as everything is all in one place, never getting lost, never deteriorating (cd scratches etc) and all available to me at the ease of a click of a button.
