DVI vs HDMI

Thread Starter
Hello everyone!

My GTX580 just arrived and I have it connected to a LG Flatron W2361V monitor using DVI connector.

However the card also has a mini HDMI connector (bundled with a mini to HDMI converter) and I was wondering if connecting the monitor with HDMI cable rather than the DVI will net me significant display results.

A 1.5m length HDMI cable costs around 31 pounds so if its not worth it then i will stick with the DVI connector.

Awaiting replies

Nope, no difference, both are digital signals based on the same tech, HDMI just has the ability to send an audio signal over the cable as well

Don't pay 31 pounds for a HDMI cable, the DVI will do the same thing and A cheap (5 pounds) HDMI would also do the same thing.

Edit: Ninj'ed

HDMI and DVI is the same signal except for AUDIO.

Sigh.....
DVI and HDMI is the same thing. Both digital connections.
If you're paying more than 5$ for a HDMI cable. You are getting screwed on markup.
A 5$ HDMI cable is just as good as a 30$ one.

Cheers guys smile.gif

No need to spend any extra cash then.

I knew something was fishy ;P I went to the start and ask the guy there is there any difference he says I don't know and asks someone else. He was there is a HUGE difference. My reply was "Are you sure? Its a DVI connection on a pc monitor". He said yes.

Anywho I thought it would be best to ask you guys, more independant opinion wink.gif
