[LegitReviews] GT 440 goes retail with eVGA - Page 3

there is nothing to be unlocked, this card is basically an overclocked GT 430, some also use gddr5, but I don't think memory bandwidth is the main problem with the gt430 anyway...
so this card uses the gf108.. only 4rops and 16tmus... the OEM only GT440 is much faster, it uses the gf106 with more sps/tmus/rops

TPU have their gddr5 version review up.

I don't understand why they would release a gimped version when the Nvidia website shows better specs.

Maybe this is a prequal to a gt 445?

This eVGA one looks so lacking compared to the Zotac one.

TPU's review says the Asus card will cost $100. Why would anyone buy one when you can get a GTS 450 for a few dollars more?! The OEM's specs are where we should be, instead nVidia cheaped out and stuck GDDR5 on a GT430 and called it a day. Hell I'd wager my 3 year old 8800GT still outperforms this thing. Bad nVidia....

Like I said, they dropped the ball on this one. They really just had to market the OEM GT 440 in the retail market, but then we'd be getting too much product for our money...

maybe because some folks like myself don't want to use cards that require pin connectors. If i happen to see one at best buy anytime soon , a gddr5 version, i will be picking it up.
