$10 Scratch! Some pictures

Firstly, I'd like to say thanks to The Little Beige Box for supplying me with the guts for this project. Check out his site here: http://beige-box.com

Okay. As you might know, I have very little money, but wanted a decent-looking case to put my Pentium III in:

Pretty fugly.

I wanted to do a scratchbuild, but I didn't have any tools or access to many parts and things to use. I did, however, have a lot of cardboard...

**SPECS**

CPU: 1GHz Pentium III
RAM: 512MB PC133
HDD: 3x 20GB IDE
Video: Random 32MB GeForce
PSU: Compaq OEM. Unknown Wattage.

'Modest' would be a severe understatement with this rig. However, it's the best I can do, so let's get a move on...

The first thing I did was collapse a box and set down my components in the arrangement that I thought would allow for the best cable management and airflow. I was going to go with a "horazontal desktop" case, like the IBM PS/2, for example.

Once I got my layout figured out, I took two junk slot covers and hot-glued them to the cardboard. I also glued down motherboard standoffs.

I will drill holes in the slot covers so I can screw the PSU down. Just need to get my dremel charged up (only powertool I own).

First, a closeup of the standoffs:

I was going to use a metal hard drive rack I thought I had lying around, but i couldn't find it. Instead, I just did this:

I glued the hard drives in place, screwed in the motherboard, and tested my cable runs a bit.

More to come.

Well I´d love to watch this - but you definately should resize the pics!

As CattleRustler advised me in my first worklog "the image size is obnoxious"
Now I have to quote him on that

Cheers

Edit: You guys beat me to it!
