If your clocks continue to scale with more voltage, go for it. wink.gif

Brawn b4 beauty:D. hey so i was playing with it just now and i had the voltage at 1.33-34 underload. i got about 5 secs of heaven in and the screen went yellow.....in fear of blowing my new caps i killed the psu quickly. was that the ocp stepping in?

adding to post: i turned it down some on voltage and clocks and it last longer but still goes to a soldid screen. the voltage still reads what ever it was set on. if this is the ocp im gonna need to steal a 200K resistor from mah buddy:)

So long as your load temps are still at or under ~60-65c.. you should be good for more speed and voltage. You do need to kill OCP before pushing further though wink.gif Heres the last 275 i mod'd... for some reference.

Input caps really help stabilize the current demands on these GPU's..this GPU did close to 900mhz core on stock cooling after mods.

i think i over did it in the area were the stock capz blew redface.gif.
those caps by the sli bridge, is that for the ram?
the caps under the core...did you just go paralell with any cermamic caps or was there a method of picking them?
the caps that are towards the end of the card by the control chip: are those the caps for the intial input power to the card?? i asume they are running piggy back on the 4 caps by the pcie connectors.

i will be elimitnating the ocp but first i need to go jack a resistor from mah buddy.tongue.gif
i also replaced the thermal pad TIM with some new stuff from frozen cpu. it seems to work alot better as the the heat spreader feels alot warmer now when working the card

Caps at the back of the gpu core are placed on each power phase. You can see the pattern in the layout if you look at a gpu before-hand. I basically capped every other large SMD cap. Caps at the pcie connector are for vddci/q..which is related to mem controller functions...and memory. Caps at the end of the PCB are for input regulation to the mosfets. All purple/blue caps are 16v 1200 if for input voltages. Only the caps at the back of the core are for output voltage and are 6.3v 1000uf.

Yes, those caps where for his memory.

The input caps need to be 16v caps. Yes, piggy back them. thumb.gif

Your output phase has plenty of capacitance yessir.gif

When I get home I'll solder some more caps on. I would like to overvolt the ram aswell but will the extra caps help the ram clock a lil higher with stock voltage?
I found some 220k resistors. Would one of these work for the OCP?
can't wait to get home and see what it can do I didint get much time last night to mess with it. Currently overclocking mah car:) blown mustang:cheers:

ok so i raided an old motherboard for some caps and found 6.3/1000 and 16/1800. i guess those 1800s are big but it was the only 16v cap i could find on the old board.

if a 220k resistor for the ocp is too much i can run to ratshack tommorow and get some.

Looks like a party on your PCB. thumb.gif

220K might be to large. Not sure it will lower OCP enough. I used a 200K potentiometer and lowered the resistiance on the trimming a little bit. I remember getting the ending resistance down to ~100K.

You can also pencil the resistor.
