Painting red thing on EVGA GTX 260? - Page 2

Well I got this high-temp stuff because I touched the red part while it was attached to the card, and just after I had ran a game at max temp (doesn't get above 77F usually) and it almost burnt my hand.

I took it outside and set it on some ice on the porch to paint and just did a few sprays to see what it would do.

It's 20F outside and 40F in the garage, so I don't think it's going to dry anytime soon.

I left it out in the garage all night and I will check in a bit.

Edit: ordered an NZXT hale 90 to match the scheme/brand of case and IMO it looks great, and will look even greater with the painted metal part on the GPU

Ok here is the test

Painted this last night outside 20F on top of ice for first coat/test.

Left it in the garage (40F) all night, seems pretty dry.

Going to do an hour-2 hour on card drying/testing at idle temps (100F on chip, probably 80-90 on the plate, which is the max for the drying temp of the paint)

Up close, you can see a couple spots and the obvious red underneath but it looks ok in the picture

Hooked all 3 temp sensors on the case to various places on the plate and it's 70-85, and this is touching the metal that connects to the plate, so I'm sure it's not TOO hot.

Plus it's 65 in my room.

Please rate color scheme.

I have one blue SATA cable because the mobo is black/blue

This theme is black/white/blue.

Would prefer green but I'm not going to go through the trouble of finding a green/black mobo.

This.

To get around that you could do an advance RMA and then just swap the coolers before mailing the card back, supposing that nothing on the cooler itself was broken. Fans can be swapped. Punctured heatpipe would pretty much be the only thing to screw you over.

I had high heat on there for this test (picture)

But I didn't do a good job, so now I am trying a bunch of very light coats indoors of the krylon stuff.

If it doesn't turn out well, I am going to go ALL OUT

Acetone soaked for a day? to get all the paint off.

Then priming and painting and then clear coat.

THAT IS AWESOME!!!!!!! As u can see from my included pic I need one more Gtx w/ the red thingy on the side. I'm thinking I can get an EVGA card that has a black heat sink and paint it red. Ironically its a hard card to come by. Do u have any suggestions for the "EVGA" in silver on the side of my 3rd card? BTW its a recent tri-sli set-up... I know i have to clean the cables up.

Well it it cutout or is it just a raised part of the card but still one piece?

You can try hiring a hobbyist who paints small things like this (aircraft or other stuff)

He/she should be REAL good at painting things like that with no borders

I wouldn't put tape on that as it might stick, but there might be tape out there that won't damage it.

Can't really tell from the pic though

I'm not sure what the 'EVGA" is... But my guess is hard plastic glued on, because the lettering is defiantly raised.
