First I posted in the AMD section (here) but for the money I was quickly convinced to go with 2500K. I would like to keep the build without monitors under 1400 hopefully closer to 1000.

Use will be gaming, video and photo editing run at a mild oc.

Already bought

$220 Asus P67 Sabertooth

$37 Thermalright Cogage True Spirit Cooler

$228 i5 2500k

$105 Crucial RealSSD C300 64GB SATA III

$90 Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5"

$142 COOLER MASTER Storm Sniper

$130 XFX Black Edition 850W 80 PLUS SILVER Certified
-40 MIR
$90

$280 SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6950 2GB 256-bit
-20 MIR
$260

$24 (includes shipping) ASUS Black SATA 24X DVD Burner

$90 G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

Total $1286

Things still deciding on

X3 NEC E231W-BK 23" LCD Monitor.

Everything there looks great! You made a great choice on the ssd. I would recommend getting the 6950 from Asus though. They are a great company. For monitors, I would also look at the Samsung F2380. Those monitors are just screaming for eyefinity with those bezels! Another monitor you moght want to look at is the Dell U2311h. They're pretty cheap for an Ips monitor. Good luck!

I looked at the samsungs but they dont have the displayport connections. The NEC i list are the cheapest IPS displayport displays I can find. If the dells would go on sale and drop a bit more I would pay the extra for them. The NEC is LED, any problems with using one?

I stuck with the sapphire over the asus because its 50 bucks cheaper and it has an adapter and extra cord I would need to spend at least another 20 on. I do like the way the asus looks though, no cheap sticker.
