The SSD is running alone, i have setup the HDD's as 1 RAID setup and the SSD is not in the raid configuration. But the SATA is set on RAID.

I did a system restore but it didnt help.

Yea I understand that you want to run the SSD as an OS drive, and have the other drives as a storage array.

Hmmm system restore didn't help, that's not good.

Did you set up the array using the Intel Matrix Storage Manager Option ROM (Ctrl + I)?

Maybe unplug the array, set up Windows on the SSD, then manually create a system restore point, then try to get the array running. Sorry I'm not much help here.

Nice case, by the way!

Can you still boot if you remove the RAID array? Sounds like the driver is incorrect. Finding the right RAID driver can be a PITA, and if the wrong one is installed, it will hang the system.

Boot into safe mode and remove the RAID controller/driver. You should install the OS first WITHOUT the array to your SSD, then add the array (is that what you did before?).

It's usually best to use the driver from the board manufacturer support page. But I've sometimes had to go through different sources to find one that works, like the chipset manufacturer. If it's intel, you may have to dig it out of the inf installer.

If you get your OS installed to the SSD, the other option is to enable the RAID controller, create an array, then use windows update and see if Microsoft has a driver from the chipset manufacturer. That's what I would do with an array i'm not booting from.

**DON'T EVER INSTALL VISTA OR WINDOWS 7 WITH MULTIPLE DRIVES CONNECTED!!! Only your boot drive. Add the other AFTER the OS is up and running.

Yes, he means your RAID setup. Also make sure only your SSD is connected during the OS install like 2thAche said. You will ony need the RAID drivers during OS install if you're booting up from them. Since the SSD is for the OS, connect your RAID array after the OS is installed and load drivers from there.

Once you load the OS on your SSD and boot up fine, you should be able to re-connect the RAID array when the pc is off and re-start the computer. Once it up, it should detect the RAID array. Also make sure your bios is set up to boot correctly and detects the RAID array also. The same driver's you loaded during install should be the same driver's when in Windows.

so i should do this????:

1. connect only the SSD to the mobo
2. load up the windows installation dvd
3. load up the driver for RAID
4. install win7 on the SSD
5. boot off and go to bios
6. make RAID array
7. bootup windows 7

'but the problem is: every RAID driver i load, doesnt seems to be right, that stupid message appears...

please if i'm not right, write the steps for me down.
i'm not a RAID expert... sorry..

No:

1: Connect the SSD
2: Load the windows installation DVD
3: Load SATA controller drivers for the controller the SSD is on (NOT RAID DRIVERS!), ONLY if needed.
4: Install windows to the SSD
5: Fully update windows using windows update, DO NOT browse the internet, just use windows update. Reboot as needed.
6: Install chipset drivers (audio, mobo, vid) from a clean, pre-made USB drive (don't go on the internet to get drivers), reboot as needed.
7: Turn off PC.
8: Plug in the drives for the RAID array, and enable it
9: Windows should find the RAID controller, and offer to install drivers for it. If it finds drivers, great.
10: If it windows does NOT find drivers, run windows update and see if windows update has drivers.
11: If NO drivers in windows update, you'll load drivers from your CD. You have the option to skip 9, 10 and use the CD drivers if you want, but be ready for your original problem if they are borked.
12: NOW install AV (antivirus) software, and proceed with other software installs.

I put in AV software last, so there is no possibility of interference with MS updates and driver installs. You should be behind a hardware firewall (router) and DO NOT browse the internet until AV software is installed.

Basically, you are installing the array LAST, after the OS running and updated.
