1600 CL9 slightly outperforms 1333 CL7 on AMD due to poor speed-performance scaling below 1600Mhz.

I found this quote from an older thread regarding my question. Kinda interesting......

"For AMD Phenom II, lower latencies are the best; I found various improvements switching from 1600mhz 8-8-8-24 to 1333mhz 6-6-6-18 (including stability!)
Apparently it's similar for i7 and i5 setups, but for LGA775 the more speed, the better."

Perhaps the scaling is a bit better at 1333 6-6-6, on my old Mushkin Blue XP3 RAM going from 1600 8-8-8 (which never proved stable) to 1333 6-6-6 actually helped stability and performance quite a bit. Some apps will really like the lower timings (i.e. gaming), but the majority will apparently prefer the bandwidth of 1600 despite CL9 against 1333 CL7. The scaling is different when you take the same latencies but higher speeds, i.e. 1600 CL7 beats out 2000 CL9.
