Need RMA advice ASAP...

So the PS3 blu-ray drive decided to die on Christmas Day, was lucky that we have another unit upstairs...but I digress...

-Put the bad unit into the corner and had to order a portable hard drive so that I could back up all the info on it. (And maybe it would see the errors of it's ways being over there in the corner...)

-Received all of the RMA paperwork and box from Sony, all approved, all ready to go...

-Received the external hard drive, hooked it up to the playstation to start the back up process and thought I'd try it out one last time...and...it works...

Tried 4 blu-rays and 3 games and they *all* work.

March will be the end of my 1 year window...

So long story short...kinda...do I keep it and hope for the best? Or send it back, maybe to get the "There's nothing wrong with this goddamned thing" scorn of a Playstation employee?

Color me vexxed, and awaiting responses.

Hmm how long did you play the game/blu ray movie?

My friends would play for 10-30 minutes then freeze. So he dumped it off at gamestop cause they only check to see if it reads them. lol.

Play several Blu-rays on it non-stop for a few days. See if it fails again. If it's mechanical it probably won't last too much longer.
AMD, I give up.

This is what I'm thinking too...I mean, even if they get it back and it works for them, I'm not really out anything.

I'm worried about keeping it and then it fails next month after I'm out of the 1 year window.

Thanks for the help!
