My buddy and I looking at cases for his new build and there are so many to choose from that I don't know what to get. He wants to spend between 50 and 80 for a case and no more.

Requirements:
Mid ATX
Good Cooling
Comes with fans / or fans needed + case don't exceed $80.
will fit a 5850.
generally quiet
Must come from Newegg.

My idea was this bad boy, but there could be better I don't know about.

The CM 690 II generally gets praise for the sub-$100 market.

That is a great case for air cooling. He will want to either buy pantyhose or a lot of dust filters though.

I'd get this instead.

HAF's are.. well I just don't like them.

Whats better about this case? It doesn't look like it has a top mounted fan so the cooling would not be as good I wouldn't think.

you can add two in the top.

Higher quality, black interior, better hard drive bays.

there is a top mount for an SSD.

NZXT vulcan is a very nice case. The handle doesn't have to be installed if needed

The CM 690 actually has 2x top mounted fan spots. Its just hard to see in the pic.

But the top panel supports 120mm or 140 mm fans, the side panel supports 2x80mm,2x90mm,2x120mm or 2x140mm.

On top of being able to mount 3 radiators inside, top 240mm, bottom 240mm and front 120mm. and despite it being mostly mesh it has a second layer of finer mesh behind it acting as a dust filter.

the cm690 II is the clear winner here.

oh and lets not forget the far superior cable management.

I'm gonna have to agree with the others here. I still use a first gen 690 for my wife's rig, and the 690 II is actually an improved model, not just re-badged. It's on my short list of cases for my upcoming build, and the only other options that really compare are all over $100.
