Grab another 470 and you're good.
Wasnt the scalability really awesome for 2 470's in that game?

If anything, you can always turn down settings. Would you really notice a certain object isn't as shiny anymore when you're busy shooting stuff?
YES! (not really) lol

EDIT:

And for the dude making claims, you should know OCN better than to just take word of mouth, show us some benchmarks!

I had already made a video a while ago of my GTX 275 running Metro 2033 on max 1280x720 if u guys want u cant watch it

With fraps it does about 30FPS(ish) and without fraps does 35-40 FPS with full AA and AF, advanced physx, DX10, but 1280x720 resolution.

That's because a 460 at 850MHz can be very close to a 470 at 800MHz on most benchmarks.

In any case, you can see benchmarks on this thread w/an OC'd 460 and 470, and there is no doubt that a 6870 does not outperform either of these cards by any significant margin.

So you can twist logic however you want here, but the EVIDENCE that we actually have here strongly refutes the assertion that a 6870 can 'max out' this game 'perfectly smooth' from start to finish.

It looks like perhaps one has to have the Steam version of the game to have the benchmark.

There was a nice boost with 10.8, not only with fps but also smoothness.

***Disclaimer...Not at all saying it's playable maxed with a 6870, just wondering if you got to try the 10.8 cats before you bailed.
I forget exactly which driver set I was running when I stopped using those cards. Was the 10.4's the first 'good' set, the one that was the best for awhile (like, there were a couple later versions that kinda sucked)? If so, that was the last set I ran. I stopped using those cards in June.

Maybe you can't read, or maybe you're just plain retarded.

The fact of the matter is, I played the game MAXEDat 1920 X 1080 with my single 6870 and the fps could not have dropped below 30 cause that would have been noticeable. It was smooth as silk. I don't know why reading my 100% accurate post puts your panties in a bunch, but I suggest you stop reading them if it does, and unless you have access to the identical rig that I am using, I would advise you to stop contradicting me about something you know nothing about.
It gets my panties in a bunch because you're NOT 100% accurate. Rather, you are just plain full of nonsense

I don't have to play this game on your rig to know that either you are lying for some absurd reason, or you are mistaken, and didn't have all the settings maxed out.

Consider the evidence on this thread:
1) A single 470 w/30% OC maxed out - easily comparable to 6870 at Metro - IS UNPLAYABLE BY A LARGE MARGIN
2) A single 460 w/large OC maxed out - easily comparable to 6870 at Metro - IS UNPLAYABLE BY A LARGE MARGIN
3) Two 6970's in Crossfire maxed out - easily 2 times faster than one 6870 - Averages just over 43fps average, and dips into the teens in the benchmark. IOW, IS BARELY PLAYABLE, and certainly not going to be a 'perfectly smooth' experience.
4) Not one single person on this LONG thread has come to your defense and claimed that what you've stated is possible.

I can also tell you from experience that when I tried this game maxed out on an OC'd GTX480, which crushes a 6870 at Metro, it was also UNPLAYABLE.

Ergo, you are either lying, or you simply do not know wth you are talking about. Period.

If you have the steam version of the game, you have the benchmark app. So if you do, how about you put up or ... you know the rest

I have an EVGA SSC+ GTX 460 and my crossfire 6870's. I get home late, but I can run some comparison benches if you guys want.

(I know its not a GTX470, but its still a killer card)

brett arent you in the physx thread testing all sorts of games with and w/o physx?

If so I would take your word over anyone here seemingly as you would have the most actual experience with your own and other gpu's gathered here on OCN

I'll look forward to seeing the results from one of your 6870's at 1080p maxed out with DX11/VH/4xMSAA/16xAF/Tess On/ADoF On

Of course, when the benchmark averages like 19 fps and dips down around 6fps, I'm sure our friend coloredbills will come on and say that you don't have his magical rig, so your results are irrelevant

At those settings I know without even benching that a single 6870 is going to cry for mommy.

Well, yeah, there's that. And then there's the fact that we have a Metro benching thread on OCN here:

http://www.overclock.net/benchmarkin...-official.html

Note the 'thanks brettjv' at the bottom of the OP, and the fact that THE FIRST benchmark result provided in this thread was ME? That's because Kora and I worked together to set up the official specs for this, the Official OCN Metro2033 Benchmarking thread.

Also note that the settings there are CONSIDERABLY easier than 'maxed at 1080p'. Rather, the official bench settings are: 1680x1050 VH with NO ADoF, and only using AAA (as many of us know, the biggest perf killers in Metro are higher resolutions, 4xMSAA and ADoF) ... and despite this, people w/similar cards to a 6870 (460, 470, 5850) are only getting around 40fps average.

But, no ... apparently I'm 'retarded', and I have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to Metro.
